"I Am" Project

The "I Am" project was a learning experience to reflect on ourselves.

The purpose of this Learning Opportunity is to find out how you perceive yourself, and also to look at how others close to you perceive you as well, comparing and contrasting those perceptions with your own. The purpose of the paper is to present what you learned, applying concepts from the Communication and the Self chapter where appropriate.

Step 1:Think of adjectives that you would use to describe yourself.

Step 2: Write down the definition of who you think you are.

Step 3: Write down the definition of who you want to be.

Step 4: Think of anything you might like to change about yourself to help you better
become the YOU that you want to BE.

Step 5: Decide who you will give the slips to and on your own, write down how you
think they will answer the questions

Step 6: Give the slips of paper to a minimum of two
other people who know you. I recommend that you choose people who may have differing vantage points on your life. Ask them to answer the questions keeping in mind what typifies you as they see you. Request that they be as honest as possible; then leave the room while they work on it. Upon returning, discuss with them their rationale for
the answers they gave
